Registration is now open for the 2012 EM&V Forum Annual Public Meeting, which will be held at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC from 9:00am – 4:30pm on December 12. The objective of the Annual Public Meeting is to increase understanding and awareness of the EM&V Forum’s scope and projects through interaction among a broad range of stakeholders from across the region and beyond. The meeting agenda includes panel discussions on an array of topics relevant to policymakers, program administrators, evaluation experts, merchant providers, ISOs and RTOs, and other relevant stakeholders. Most exciting will be the launch of the Forum’s Regional Energy Efficiency Database (REED), which will provide for consistent reporting of energy efficiency impacts to support energy and air quality policies, as well as more effective system planning across the region. The first of its kind in the country, REED builds on NEEP’s Common Statewide Energy Efficiency Reporting Guidelines, released in 2010, which outlined consistent definitions and state-level reporting templates to provide a “common currency” for energy efficiency data in order to help the region meet energy and environmental goals. REED takes this effort a step further by providing a data collection tool which feeds a central database for all member states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions to report and compare their own and other states’ energy efficiency programs. By supporting region-wide collaboration and consistency and by highlighting avoided emissions and job impacts, REED will advance the credibility and effectiveness of energy efficiency as a resource. The panel discussion accompanying the launch of REED will feature Cheryl LaFleur (Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), Kathleen Hogan (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency at the U.S. Department of Energy), and Sarah Dunham (Director of the Office of Atmospheric Programs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). In addition, accounting for job impacts resulting from energy efficiency programs will be discussed further during a lunch address by Ted Trabue (Director of the D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility). Additional agenda topics at the Annual Public Meeting will include Forum highlights from 2012 and looking ahead to 2013; regional coordination with, and influence on, national EM&V protocols; and new horizons for net savings research.
