Overview

NEEP facilitates partnerships and serves as an information resource for policymakers, energy efficiency program administrators and other stakeholders to support the adoption and implementation of policies that advance the efficient use of energy in the buildings sector. We accomplish this through general policy research and outreach, as well as through specific projects.

Policy Outreach Projects

NEEP's policy outreach team is presently focused on ensuring that states follow through on commitments to greatly increase the deployment of funding for efficiency and assisting others states with their efforts to enhance efficiency offerings. NEEP also works to link energy efficiency to other key public policy objectives including climate change, economic prosperity and energy system reliability. We do this by:

• Promoting energy efficiency as a reliable, verifiable and preferred energy resource.
• Monitoring the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) auction process and advocating that proceeds are allocated towards efficiency;
• Advocating for the integration of energy efficiency into regional transmission organization (RTO) planning and capacity markets;
• Helping states navigate and maximize federal efficiency policies and funding opportunities and,
• Generally fostering elements of the green economy.
