November On November 22, 2005 Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney signed an energy efficiency standards bill that will reduce electricity use by about 700,000 megawatt-hours per year by 2020 (equivalent to the average use of about 100,000 households). September Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) is praising the action by 15 states, which on Sept. 7, 2005 sued the federal Department of Energy for violating a Congressional mandate to enact strong energy efficiency standards for 22 common household and commercial appliances.
