| NEEP kicks off Regional Protocols Project
NEEP's Regional Protocols Project, an effort to develop common measures to value energy efficiency program savings in the Northeast, officially kicked off on June 15. To launch the project, NEEP policy staff met with a newly formed advisory committee representing a broad range of stakeholders including utilities, air regulatory agencies and energy efficiency program administrators. Committee members responded to a needs assessment prepared by NEEP and discussed the reasons and priorities for developing common protocols in light of regional policy developments and state specific needs. In the next phase of the project, NEEP will research options for how to best develop common protocols, building from experience where these protocols already exist. The research strategy will focus on program savings, program attributes, and cost-effectiveness, and will consider the technical, institutional and political opportunities and challenges of each. NEEP will present its research findings and recommendations to the advisory committee this fall.
