2008 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit: Clean, Lean and Green Growth


For the third straight year, NEEP is hosting the region’s premier energy efficiency event. The 2008 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit: Clean, Lean and Green Growth will take place on May 22 at the Marriott Downtown Hotel in Hartford, Connecticut.  

This year’s Summit will examine the growth and benefits of energy efficiency for the Northeast. This summit will assemble leaders from across the region that support the rapid expansion of energy efficiency as a resource to ensure economic sustainability and to demonstrate, through leadership, the commitment to a clean environment.

The Summit program features a day long conference addressing energy efficiency policy and applications. Some notable speakers and panelists include:

  • Tom King, Executive Director of Electricity Distribution & Generation, National Grid
  • Jon Wellinghoff, Commissioner, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
  • Mary Healy, Connecticut Consumer Counsel
  • Paul DeCotis, New York Deputy Secretary of Energy
  • Charles W. Shivery, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Northeast Utilities
  • Robert Healy, City Manager, Cambridge, Massachusetts

Additionally, the Summit will feature an exhibition of 40 leading-edge providers of energy efficiency products and services for the commercial, industrial government, and residential sectors.

Northeast Business Leaders for Energy Efficiency

Serving as the capstone to the Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit, the recognition of Northeast Business Leaders for Energy Efficiency is a prestigious celebration of the positive impact of energy efficiency and the outstanding leadership businesses have demonstrated to effectively implement energy efficiency practices that achieve cleaner, leaner operations.

Honorees were nominated by their local utility company or energy efficiency program administrator and were selected based on commitment to achieving energy savings through cost-effective investments; addressing comprehensive changes in major energy systems; improving energy performance through operational practices and management level support; and demonstrating leadership to advance energy efficiency.

Honorees will participate in an evening dinner gala at the conclusion of the Summit.This year’s dinner feature’s a keynote address by Gary Hirshberg, CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm.
