SSL Technology Fact Sheets

As part of its comprehensive portfolio of research, development and commercialization activities, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is committed to providing free materials for distribution that will assist those new to solid state lighting (SSL) in knowing what they need to know in order to participate in bringing this technology to market on a broad scale. One of the most user-friendly examples of these efforts is the growing library of “SSL Fact Sheets” that DOE has available on its web site. Here visitors will find eleven fact sheets, which are full-color Adobe® PDF documents, grouped by subject area:

These documents are reproducible and you are encouraged to share with internal and external contacts that can benefit from them.

The two newest DOE fact sheets are "Solid-State Lighting Standards" and "Color Rendering Index and LEDs.” The lighting standards document presents an overview of industry standards and test procedures related to LED products. The color rendering index document explains why CRI is not necessarily a reliable indicator of LED color rendering ability.  In addition, DOE has released updates to the "Color Quality of White LEDs" and "Residential Recessed Downlights" fact sheets.
