NEEP Executive Director Sue Coakley will join Steve Nadel (ACEEE Executive Director) and Howard Gellar (SWEEP Executive Director) as guest speakers at a bilateral energy efficiency event in Berlin, hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

Energy efficiency is a key element of energy policy in the United States, with some states leading in particularly innovative efficiency measures. It is also a cornerstone of Germany's energy transition ("Energiewende"). Both countries have implemented successful policies and are facing similar challenges. In order to strengthen the bilateral transatlantic cooperation and allow for an exchange of lessons learned and best practices, leaders and experts in energy efficiency from both countries will participate in a three-day event consisting of:

  • A one-day workshop in which energy efficiency policies from both countries will be introduced and discussed by leading experts from government institutions, non-profit organizations as well as industry associations. A particular focus will be on energy efficiency measures in the industrial sector.
  • Two half-day visits to innovative efficiency projects in the city of Berlin.

The bilateral event will take place following a G20 conference on energy efficiency hosted by the German Federal Government in Hamburg on May 2.
